The Drive-In Mob was formed out of the ashes of Turner Classic Movies’ Drive-in Double feature programming in June 20011, when ShelfLifeClothing.com, GrindHouseDatabase.com and TheCulturalGutter.com made plans for a tweet-up to go along with the movies, and to their pleasant surprise found dozens of other like-minded film fans who had the same idea, and some very hilarious and quick-witted comments to share. A month of spirited tweetalongs to classic films like Godzilla, King of the Monsters, Them!, Tarantula, The Blob and Attack of the 50-Foot Woman followed, and when TCM returned to their original programming, we created this site to arrange more movie watch parties on Twitter using various forms of online streaming like Netflix, Crackle, Hulu, Archives.org and Youtube to screen the films. We schedule mostly double features on Thursdays, but also convene for movies on TCM when we can, and even have some spontaneous Mob nights when a fun film pops up on the TV schedule and enough of the gang is online.
We lean toward scheduling fun, monstrous sci-fi, kung fu, horror and other typical drive-in genres, but sneak in some unexpected surprises and cult classics that we love. Visit the ARCHIVES of past films!
If you are a fan of film, join other fans by searching on Twitter under the hashtag #DriveInMob and follow @driveinmob to share in the fun. |
